Wednesday

Got in before work this morning to prep the boats. Seven messages on my phone. After a day on the water I left ten message still on the machine. I do like fie3ld research. Though I may need to go to work early tomorrow again just to go through my messages and still leave enough time to do the data entry from today.

Tuesday

Spent the morning collecting water samples - it was a bit choppy and holding the boat steady in the wind was tricky but everything got done with minimal errors on my part. In the afternoon I was in the lab working on the samples. I stopped by my desk to collect some data sheets and noticed 5 messages waiting on my telephone. Too bad I'm out of the office again tomorrow. Typical government inefficiency. We work too much to get any work done. :-)

Monday

Had a crazy morning at work trying to get a couple of different projects organised for the next couple of days. Because of practical constraints they're as organised as they'll get until tomorrow. - Took the afternoon off work to go to the funeral of a friend's mom. Left work, went to the bank, went home and had lunch, got into my suit, retied my tie three times to get it the right length, picked Suzanne up and got to the funeral in good time. It was a pretty good service; almost 2 hours but moved along at a rapid clip so you didn't really notice the time pass. We left the grave early, though. The internment was a bit much for Suzanne. - Dinner was hot dogs & boston creme pie. I went out for the ingredients and Suzanne cooked. Good deal. - Darn, now I'm thinking aout having another slice of pie.

Weekend

Saturday we slept in to varying degrees and I did some banking in the 'morning'. It was shocking how many people were in the banks. More than during the week. You'd think they'd notice but I guess none are really looking for a competitive advantage over the others.

That evening we went over to my Church's young adults group for pizza. And one of the members brought doughnuts as well!

Sunday I really slept in after watching TV all night and we had lunch by Suzanne's family. Mmmm, turkey & breadfruit salad.

I'm still procrastinating doing anything productive, though. And not looking forward to being back to work tomorrow.

Friday

We woke up to stormy weather this morning. I was very glad I didn't have another day of field work scheduled. And that I could sleep in. (No field work, no walking.) It cleared up by mid-morning but stayed nicely overcast and rained again tonight.

I stopped in to see a friend of mine whose mother just died. We talked about other things, which was the best I could think of. I guess its a truism that you don't now what to say, you don't want to think about the death of loved ones but you don't want to abandon your friends.

Suzanne & I had lunch today at one of the local English pubs. She was unimpressed by the food. Then we had to try three places to get desert. The gelato shop was closed, Baskin Robins is 'rebranding' but Haagen Dazs was still selling cones.

Tonight as Suzanne watched interminable reality fashion TV I did the accounts while she worked on the cruise itinerary (I can never spell that word).
